Happy Birthday from Wilco

Not at all related to skiing, snowboarding or the environment, but this was the coolest thing that I saw on my 40th Birthday…Ok, my kids were cool too. And my wife, my gorgeous wife. And you know, my sister posted some stuff on Facebook. Oh, and my other sister called and sang to me. Oh yeah, and my 90 year old Grandma emailed. How cool is that? But anyway, this was cool.

There’s also a Colbert interview with Jeff Tweedy. Thanks, Jeff.

Powdr Co. Recognized by EPA

It’s not often that I can post a link to the Environmental Protection Agency and it actually has something to do with skiing. But just this week, the EPA recognized Mt. Bachelor’s parent company, Powdr Corp, for their leadership in the use of Green Power.

Now, let’s hope that our minimal carbon footprint lifestyles will lead directly to early, copious amounts of snow in the Cascades – D-Rex

Something to pass the time

If you are like me, days like this are hard to figure out. It’s too cold for a mountain bike ride (I know, I should be hard-core), all the yard work is done and I have most of my winter equipment all figured out. That’s not to say I have everything I need, but I am just waiting for the ski-swap and watching the new snow build up. There are snow movies, (anyone catch Down Days at the Tower on Friday?) and DVDs to get you amped, but mostly, I suffer alone, in my garage just looking at my snowboard and wondering when I can finally unleash my own inner jibber.

Well, I’m writing to let you know that you are not alone. We walk among you. Chances are, if you wander over to your neighbors garage, he or she is doing the same thing. Grab him or her, and get to your local ski shop. Even if you don’t buy anything, you can at least quiz all of the ski techs on the new gear and see if they’ve been listening to all the seminars and reps.

And if you still need some tuning or prep, get out in the garage and get popping. Do you need any wax? Click on the buying / shopping link on the left and get some.

Keep an eye on this site. I will update more and more this winter. I also have my twitters appearing on the side bar, so if I get a secret stash tip or find some cache myself, I will send a txt and let all of you in on it.

Be patient. Snow will come. Think happy thoughts. – D-Rex

Just around the corner…

Winter is just around the corner.  This morning when the clouds rolled off of the Cascades, everyone in Bend looked up and saw new snow on Mt. Bachelor.  Immediately, we all started shopping for winter gear… – Drex
